Why do you want to be on the Outpost Natural Foods Board of Directors?
I am interested in joining the Outpost Board of Directors because I believe I have experience and a skill set that would be beneficial to the Co-op, the owners and the greater community. I believe in the Co-op and what a benefit it can be for the community.
What professional skills do you bring to a Board position of a $50 million business?
As an Association Management Professional, my day job is managing associations, which employs me to wear a variety of hats to meet the needs of my clients.
My expertise includes:
- Membership databases
- Fundraising and development
- Budgeting and finances
- Community organizing
- Lobbying and legislative campaigns
- Communications and marketing
I have a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s in social justice, and I am a Certified Association Executive and a Certified Meeting Planner.
Please describe how you would contribute to the diversity, equity, and inclusivity of the board.
Currently, I am the chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at my workplace and am excited to continue to breathe life into this type of work that I have had a passion for all of my life. Previously, I spent 10+ years as a community organizer and have an MA in social justice from Loyola University Chicago.
Describe your prior involvement with community organizations and/or cooperatives.
I have experience working with many community organizations and have held many pivotal roles, including leading committees, working with boards, and sitting on boards to ensure mission-driven organizations can thrive. My keys to success have been collaboration, building consensus, creativity, and always keeping an eye on the mission.
