Why do you want to be on the Outpost Natural Foods Board of Directors?
My entire professional career has been spent working in and managing specialty retail organizations. It's given me a good understanding of what is important for success and sustainability. I would enjoy the opportunity to use my retail business experience to help guide Outpost Co-op through this time of great changes in the specialty food market.
What professional skills do you bring to a Board position of a 50 million dollar business?
While owning and operating a local retail business for 25 years I developed skills in strategic planning, financial management and managing operations, especially in an inventory based business. I have a Business degree from UW-Madison, served as president of the board of a national independent retailer association and currently work as a retail sales manager at REI which is a national retail co-op.
Describe areas in which you are culturally fluent with a diverse community. This can include your personal or professional history or both.
I have been a volunteer with Literacy Services working with people from many different cultures and I currently attend a mission church in Milwaukee's inner city with a very diverse congregation. I am comfortable working alongside, and learning from, people of any culture or background.
