Colleen McCarrier has always loved souvenir tablecloths from the 1950s. You’ve no doubt seen them, the ones styled after maps in old school geography books, with colorful little pictures representing what each place was known for: longhorn cattle, bananas, cheese. For a long time, she kept thinking Milwaukee deserved one just like it, but she didn’t know a thing about getting a picture onto cloth. Colleen’s cousin, Hannah Jablonski, a graphic artist/designer, did. The two started brainstorming.
Hannah’s artwork surpassed Colleen’s modest ideas for what they could accomplish.
They came up with the HANmade Milwaukee Lakefront Souvenir Bandanna. It’s a new twist on an old idea. They started selling them in late 2011. Wear it on your head, around your neck or put it on your dog. Hang it on your wall or put it on your table. It’s clever, fun AND useful. It’s a 100-percent cotton bandanna designed and made right here in Milwaukee for one simple reason, Colleen and Hannah love Milwaukee.
“The motivation to even start the project was based on the fact that I just knew the product would have an audience and Hannah and I believed in Milwaukee. It’s a special place people want to remember and our lakefront is really a jewel,” Colleen said. You’ll find the HANmade Milwaukee Lakefront Souvenir Bandanna at your favorite Outpost.
