Sarah Marx Feldner has been making spiced pecans for years and giving them away as Christmas gifts. She’d always dreamed of opening a bakery of her own. Since people seemed to really like the pecans, she figured she’d start making those to see how it went. In November 2011, Sarah opened Treat Bake Shop, renting out kitchen space in Shorewood, where she turns buttery pecans into something amazing — a spicy little confection. It wasn’t long before she decided to focus on Treat full time, so she left her day job. Her goal is to make her daughter proud and make delicious treats at the same time. Sarah is focused on her Spiced Pecans right now, but she hopes to expand her product line. She sources pecans directly from a family of growers in Georgia, always working with that year’s harvest, so they’re fresh. Growing up, Sarah apprenticed with Mr. and Mrs. Penzey, the founders of the Spice House, and proudly uses Spice House spices at Treat. Sarah has many ideas swimming around in her head, she says, but she wants to remain focused on building the business without getting ahead of herself. You’ll find Treat Bake Shop Spiced Pecans at your favorite Outpost.
