Toasted Cumin Yogurt Dip

Toasted cumin seeds add a wonderful, extra special flavor to the tasty dip. It’s a perfect dip for any kind of chip, French fries or raw vegetables.
makes 1 cup

Ingredients

1 teaspoon cumin seeds, or ½ teaspoon ground cumin
1/8 teaspoon Copper Kettle Farm garlic powder (a small amount goes a long way!)
1 cup plain Greek yogurt, regular or low-fat
2 tablespoons low-fat sour cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Toasted Cumin Yogurt Dip

Directions

1. Heat a small frying pan over high heat. Once hot, add cumin seeds and cook, shaking pan or stirring, until toasted and fragrant, about 1 minute. Transfer toasted seeds to a small bowl or plate and let cool slightly.
2. Put garlic powder, yogurt, sour cream, ground cumin (if using instead of seeds), salt, and 1/8 cayenne in a medium bowl. Stir to combine.
3. Grind toasted cumin seeds in a clean coffee grinder or use a mortar and pestle to crush the seeds. Stir 1/2 teaspoon into the dip. Taste and adjust all seasonings to taste.
4. Cover and chill to blend flavors for at least 1 hour or for up to 2 days.

Per serving: 46 calories, 1g fat, 1g sat fat, 3g carbohydrates, 6g protein, 162mg sodium, 0g fiber, 92mg calcium
