Join Outpost staff and board members and help sort food for Hunger Task Force. Food sorts are a lot of fun and a great way to meet fellow cooperators!

Buy-A-Bag food sort, January 2011

"I want to participate!"

- be prepared to be active and stand for long periods of time

- wear closed-toe shoes at all times (NO sandals)

- be at least 12 years old (with an adult supervisor)

"What do I do at a food sort?"

Food sorters sort non-perishable food items by categories; check for expired, damaged or unlabeled food items; label, move and stack boxes; and make boxes using a tape gun. Due to the active nature of food sorting,all volunteers should be able to stand on their feet for long periods of time. A fifteen minute break is included. Outpost will provide refreshments.

Did you know? Hunger Task Force distributes food to food banks, homeless shelters and soup kitchens FREE of charge? It's a simple philosophy - why create roadblocks for people who are hungry?

A BIG Outpost thanks to all who made the August 2011 Hunger Task Force food sort a huge success and a whole lotta fun! Thanks to the Outpost board directors who were able to join in on the hoopla. Together we sorted 14,000 pounds of food. Whew!
