The Bisphenol A picture darkens

The use of the chemical Bisphenol A in food and beverage containers is coming under increased scrutiny, after studies have suggested that the chemical could leach from the containers and be ingested. Last Week, the Canadian government began the process of banning the substance and other consumer and health groups have called for a ban in the US. The New York Times today has a good primer about the issue.

Researchers differ on how much exposure constitutes a health risk, but no one's disputing a 2003 study, which found measurable levels of the checmial in the urine of 93% of the people studied.
