The war over water

Food, Love and Policy By Unknown #2 on June 2, 2009
Here in the Midwest, water is plentiful and our headlines often center around how to preserve, protect and keep it. Progressive-minded people are turning to rain gardens and rain barrels to protect the quality of our lakes, and maintain our gardens in a sustainable manner. It's all about keeping what nature gave us, and keeping it clean.

Elsewhere in the country, the headlines run a little differently and what seems innocuous and merely practical to us - a simple rain barrel - can be contentious and even illegal in drier, western states.
