Food, Love and Policy By Unknown #2 on June 15, 2009
Milwaukee Conservation Leadership Corps was awarded a $550,000 grant Friday to expand it's green job training program. Mayor Tom Barrett was on hand to accept the award from the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Providence, R.I.

As the the Business Journal reports, the Corps is "a partnership program operated by the Student Conservation Association (SCA), the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board and Johnson Controls Inc. Since the program's inception in 2006, 156 CLA urban high school student workers have completed more than 25,000 hours of paid conservation service to Milwaukee public lands and natural areas."
In 2009, the program is being extended to other countries, such as China and the United Kingdom.
