The use of the chemical Bisphenol A in food and beverage containers is coming under increased scrutiny, after studies have suggested that the chemical could leach from the containers and be ingested. Last Week, the Canadian government began the process of banning the substance and other consumer and health groups have called for a ban in the US. Proponents of GM crops have long touted increased yields as one of the main benefits of their engineered plants. Now, a major study conducted in the United Kingdom provides evidence that in fact the opposite is true - GM crops have lower yields than conventional crops. It was the egg, according to a federal judge, who has ordered Tyson Foods to stop advertising that its chicken has been raised without antibiotics.
