The long shelf life of contaminated rice

Opponents of GMO foods have long worried that conventional and organic crops could be contaminated by genetically engineered plants grown in the wild. It's already happened, of course. The most infamous and widely reported instance may have been the discovery that GMO rice accidentally entered the food chain sometime after field trials began in 2001. That discovery, only disclosed by chemical giant Bayer last year, led to many countries erecting barriers to reduce the risk of the contiminated rice enetering their food chain. Read more...
