Jenny and James Marino got into the baking business kind of by accident. They’d always loved fresh and natural food. The couple started looking to buy a local business that would keep them close to home and had what they considered to be great growth potential.
They weren’t looking to buy a bakery, but Cybros was one of the first businesses the couple looked at.
“Who were we kidding? We liked to eat bread ... we didn’t know anything about baking it. We tabled Cybros and moved on, looking at all kinds of other options,” Jenny said. Then there was that fateful summer night.
Jenny made turkey burgers for dinner and served them on Cybros Sprouted 7 Grain buns. The next morning, the Marinos set things in motion and ultimately bought the company. It’s been almost two years.
Although this company has been in business since 1969, the Marinos still view it as a startup. While there has always been a select group of loyal followers, educating the masses on the benefits of sprouted grains is another story.
“Our biggest challenge is creating a large scale demand for what we already know to be a nutritionally superior, all natural, amazing tasting product,” Jenny said. You can find Cybros breads at your favorite Outpost location.
